About the competition
InfoMauritius is organizing an essay-writing
competition entitled "E-Writing Competition" open to everyone
residing in Mauritius. Participants will have their work published on
the infomauritius website (www.infomauritius.com).
The main goal of the competition is to publish essays on the Internet
to on various topics related to Mauritius. Through this competition we
want to convey a ‘real’ image of Mauritius instead of the
Sea,Sun and Sand image projected currently.
We wish to encourage the use of the Internet to convey one’s point
of view to the global community.
We also hope that writing on Mauritius will reinforce the national unity
and forge the Mauritian identity.
Two or more of the selected participants will be offered the opportunity
to participate in excursions around Mauritius and other activities during
August 2005 to write articles on various business and leisure activities.
Interesting Prizes will be awarded to winners of the competition.
Conditions for participation:
- Participant should submit their essays either online, by email (ewrite@infomauritius.com)
or in any digital format.
- Essays should not be more than 2,500 words on one of the topic options
listed below or any subject relating to Mauritius.
- Articles can be either in English, French or Creol.

- Photos can be submitted to support the essay.
- An essay or article associated with one of the following topics:
- Social
- Politics
- Culture
- Sports
- Mauritius in the Global Village
- Business in Mauritius
- ICT in Mauritius
- Tourism
- Any subject or articles related to Mauritius

The Jury
The Jury will be composed of lecturers, teachers, journalists
and other members of the intellectual and business community, see detailed
list.
The jury will have access to a special section on the website where they
will be able to review, correct and mark the articles online.
Rights
Participants agrees that infomauritius publishes the articles
submitted with or without modifications.
Infomauritius reserves the right not to publish any articles that is irrelevant
or of an offensive nature.
Prize Giving
The prize giving ceremony will be held during the last week of June 2005.
Selected participants, Members of the jury, sponsors and government representatives
will be present for the ceremony.
Advertising
This competition will be promoted through the following media:
- Radio
- Press Release
- Internet
- Posters in schools, colleges and tertiary institution.
